Your thoughts and beliefs direct how you view yourself and shapes your behaviour. Your mind can limit what you believe you can achieve. Everyone goes through a cycle of negative thinking and self-doubt, it is a way for our mind to protect us, our brain is built to remember the bad experiences to avoid danger, but it also acts as a barrier to our path to happiness.
Common Negative thoughts are:
“I can’t do this, I never do anything right”.
“There’s no point in trying. I am not good enough”.
“I stuffed up again, no matter how hard I try, I always get it wrong”.
You may be surprised how often you engage in some type of negative thinking, the way to change this is to first catch these thoughts, become aware of the unconscious thoughts that pop up.
Challenge these thoughts, talk to them like you would to a friend who may say these to you about themselves, ask where the thoughts have come from, are they true?
Be curious as to why do you automatically restrict yourself, think of all the times you did succeed, remember the feelings you felt.
The mind is extremely powerful, use its power to motivate you to get what you want out of life. You are strong, you are capable, you are an inspiration.
If negative thoughts are overpowering you, take some time to talk to a counsellor who can help provide strategies to challenge your perspective.
